Timelines and procedures for appeals
(a) When can an applicant or member of the Panel file an appeal?
An appeal may be made if:
The applicant’s application for appointment to the Panel of Psychiatrists was rejected by the Selection Committee; or
The psychiatrist’s appointment on the Panel of Psychiatrists was revoked by the Selection Committee
(b) What are the timelines to file an appeal?
An appeal must be filed and served on the Selection Committee within 28 days after the date of the Selection Committee's written decision.
If more time is required to file an appeal, an application for an extension of time by way of email to SUPCT_REGISTRY@judiciary.gov.sg.
(c) What form should the appeal be filed in?
The appeal must be filed by way of an original application (OA) in Form 16 of Appendix A of the Supreme Court Practice Directions.
Please note that the OA must include the following information:
identify the decision appealed against;
if the appeal is against a decision not to renew the appointment of the appellant, state the date on which the appellant’s latest appointment as a member of the Panel expires or has expired;
state the reasons in support of the appeal;
state whether the appellant wishes to adduce any further information, document or opinion and, if so, describe the further information, document or opinion that the appellant wishes to adduce; and
enclose the Selection Committee’s decision and reasons.
